Jamberry joins the fight against domestic violence

I love it when a company supports a charity on a regular basis. In the case of Jamberry, they support various charities, but are now focusing on one particular cause: domestic violence. You hear about it in the news on a daily basis; it's becoming a bigger problem.

This seems like the ideal time to drop some stats:

• On average at least one woman a week is killed by a partner or former partner in Australia.
  
• One in three Australian women has experienced physical violence since the age of 15.
  
• One in five Australian women has experienced sexual violence.
  
• One in four Australian women has experienced physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner.
  
• One in four Australian women has experienced emotional abuse by a current or former partner.

Those figures are absolutely astounding. It's more than likely that you, a friend or family member has experienced some sort of domestic violence in their life, and it can impact on every single aspect of your life: physical, emotional, psychological, and social. 

 So what do we do about it? One great resource I found after a quick google search is http://www.domesticviolence.com.au which provides great advice for victims and friends and family. Also, the National Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence hotline is available for 24/7 support and information, on 1800 737 732.

Indirectly, if you'd like to support those who are on the front line of this battle, donations are the way to go. Jamberry has a goal to raise $150,000USD toward the FADV (Fight Against Domestic Violence).
