Avon shuts the door on Australia and New Zealand

The End of Avon in Australia and New Zealand

Today is my 1 year anniversary of being a rep for Avon, and I'm so sad that it's all coming to an end already. I've really enjoyed this as a hobby. Getting a bit of extra pocket money was always handy, and most of all, I enjoyed getting to know my neighbours, which I would otherwise probably never have done.

Last week's sudden announcement was a total shock to all of us Avon representatives. I never foresaw such drastic action as to completely exit two markets. I find it difficult to believe that Avon cannot implement changes to increase profits before deciding to shut it all down. Some of the problems that lead to their demise include late entry into online selling, lack of organic and natural products, and non-competitive pricing. The last one I disagree with, actually, as one of the reasons I always bought Avon was because their prices were fantastic compared to similar direct selling companies.

I feel sorry for all the reps who've been working with Avon for years and years, and rely on it for a steady income. Avon were also accepting new recruits right up until the announcement, so it must be very frustrating for those new reps who've just started up and have invested into their business start ups. Reps are unable to get a refund on the brochures, samples, or demo items they purchase. So many of us feel very frustrated at this.

Avon will continue to run campaigns until the end of campaign 6. Currently campaign 3 is running up until midday Wednesday 28th Feb. Orders for the last campaign will need to be submitted by May 2nd. However, the warehouse will still be selling remaining items until empty. This means that you can still purchase your favourite products after campaign 6, but you will need to browse online to check availability.

Like most customers, I'm going to be stocking up on my favourite products over the next couple of months. There are some products that you just can't get elsewhere, or are difficult to come by. Things I want to stock up on include:
  • 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioners. These are almost impossible to find anywhere else, and I love them for travelling, and for mornings when I really need to wash my hair but I'm running late or need to save time.
  • Plumping lip conditioner. This is a must-have for your lips. It goes on completely clear, and is essential for smoothing and plumping your lips prior to putting on your lippy. If you have lines in your lips they will be especially obvious when you wear matte lippy. I always wear it under my lippy, unless I'm using the following product. I've looked around for an equivalent product, and it's difficult to find. I found one from Sephora that was pretty pricey in comparison, so I'm definitely buying up on these.
  • Perfectly Smooth Lipstick - this is my favourite lipstick because it plumps and smooths out your lips at the same time. Which means you don't have the look of lines and cracks in your lips. It saves you from having to use lip conditioner under your lippy. Definitely getting a few of my favourite colours.
  • mark. Liquid Lip Lacquer Matte or Shine - these are brand new as of the current campaign. Liquid lipstick is very on trend right now, and these ones are amazing quality for a much cheaper price than high-end brands. You can get them on sale right now for just $11.99, so it's the perfect time to buy up on these.
  • Vanilla and Sandalwood Shower Gel and Body Lotion. This is new to the Naturals range, and it's my ultimate favourite because it just smells so good! Definitely getting a few of these too.
  • Anew Clinical Even Texture & Tone Multi Spot Correcting Serum with DSX-7. This is currently my favourite skin care product. I currently have really bad pregnancy acne, and I've found that this product is the only thing that clears up and prevents more acne. I ran out of it a few weeks back and my acne returned. Very effective product, so I'll be getting more of this too.
To see a full list of my favourite products, visit my online store and then click on the "I Love" tab. If you have your own favourite products, please jump online now or check out the eBrochure and order up now before they run out of stock. To order, either order through my online store, or contact me directly to give me your order.

I'd like to thank all my customers who have supported me in the last year. I've really enjoyed being your Avon lady, and I'm sad that it's coming to an end.

Thanks for reading, everyone.

- Kate xoxo
